News and proposals to persist in writing to Alfredo !<\/strong>
\nTo broadcast as much as possible !<\/strong><\/p>\n

To break the isolation suffered by the anarchist Alfredo Cospito* with the
\nalmost total blockage of his correspondence, we relaunch here the call to send him postcards and letters… in this period of
\nholidays, etc. He could receive direct correspondence from
\nseveral pleasant places!<\/p>\n

First of all, this umpteenth call to write to our companion is motivated by
\nthe latest news reaching us from Bancali [jail to
\nSassari where he is in a cage, in Sardinia]. Indeed Alfredo
\nconsiders himself extremely relevant to continue and
\nincrease the sending of correspondence, even without traceability, even just
\npostcards with or without a name… If they arrived en masse, they
\nwould require quite a bit of work from the one responsible for blocking his mail.<\/p>\n

Then, it turns out that the traceability of the correspondence which is
\ndestiny is no longer as necessary as it has been so far. In
\neffect, Alfredo has accumulated more than 30 certified correspondence detentions,
\non which the “Surveillance Magistrate” [in France it would be the
\nDefender of rights or the General Controller of places of
\nprivation of liberty] still has to decide. But it takes a lot of time (which would be normal for Bancali, according to the lawyer who is attending to
\nmany inmates of this institution).<\/p>\n

Finally, on the sidelines of the topic ‘correspondence’, on September 14,
\nthere will be a hearing regarding the ‘judgment of conformity’ against
\nthe prison of Bancali. It is a procedure in which the
\n“Surveillance Magistrate” assesses if the prison is able to do
\nrespect or not an authorization granted, which is not actually
\nmade possible. There, it concerns Alfredo\u2019s access to the library:
\nit was granted to him, but he could not benefit from it. If the magistrate
\nagrees with Alfredo, the judge will designate another person than the
\nprison staff to ensure that this authorization is
\nrespected.<\/p>\n

We also endorse this proposal: “Initiative in solidarity with
\nAlfredo against the blocking of mail” launched by the comrades of S’Idea
\nSassari\u2019s Libera, to give further development to the attempt
\nto hinder one of the isolation devices applied to Alfredo. After
\nthis ‘summer phase’ of sending postcards and anonymous letters, it\u2019s one more opportunity to support in the long term the
\nefforts made to show his captors that Alfredo will never be
\nalone!<\/p>\n

INITIATIVE IN SOLIDARITY WITH ALFREDO AGAINST MAIL BLOCKAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regarding the situation of censorship, blockage and isolation
\nfrom Alfredo in the 41bis regime to Bancali, we would like to share this
\nproposal of initiative.<\/p>\n

Over time, there have been several occasions where, in a
\nindividual or collective way, we sought to break the isolation by
\ncorrespondence. At the moment, as it seems important to us to
\ncontinue to strike while the iron is hot, we thought of an
\ninitiative which aims to support Alfredo by using the
\ncorrespondence, and to give him a bit of continuity to have a
\ncertain impact or try to have it.<\/p>\n

The proposal is as follows: each reality, collective or<\/strong>
\nindividual, who wishes to participate in the initiative, undertakes to send<\/strong>
\nat least 7 postcards to Alfredo in a given week. This way, the more participations there will be, the more we will achieve<\/strong>
\nguarantee a ‘coverage’ over time with a certain continuity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We propose this mode of organization :<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. the realities, individual or collective, can send their
\navailability at the evaliber2@inventati.org email before September 1st.
\n2. depending on availability, we will publish a calendar: at
\neach reality will be given a reference week to send the
\npostcards \/ letters to Alfredo.<\/p>\n

Break the isolation !<\/strong><\/p>\n

* Alfredo Cospito is an anarchist comrade in prison since 2012.
\nInitially arrested and convicted for injuring the leader of Ansaldo
\nNucleare, he is now serving a sentence of 23 years in prison issued in
\nthe framework of the trial ‘Scripta Manent’ where several anarchists where accused (and some of them also condemned). After his
\nassignment to the prison regime of 41bis in spring 2022, Alfredo has
\nstarted a 6-month hunger strike against the 41bis and the confinement to
\nperpetuity. His initiative and also the energetic international mobilization who accompanied him brought to the attention of the public the aberration of this prison regime and the death sentence
\nin prison which the life sentence represents.<\/p>\n

Alfredo is still locked up in the 41bis regime of Bancali (at
\nSassari), and the renewal or non-renewal of his assignment to this scheme
\nwill take place next spring. The final objective of the 41bis is clear:
\nphysically and psychologically annihilate the individuals who fail in it.
\nIn the case of Alfredo, it is obvious that there is a progressive limitation of the survivability possibilities established for this regime of
\ndetention : blocking of correspondence to\/from the outside,
\ninability to access the internal library (authorization
\nthat Alfredo had received from the management), blocking of the books
\nregularly bought in bookstores through the prison
\n(as provided for in the 41bis regime) and other everyday goods,
\nlike flour or clothes.<\/p>\n
