During the night of 28 to 29 March, acts of resistance set ablaze the territory of the Meuse<\/strong> – which had been prey to nuclear-poachers for several decades already – in response to the call for a “black spring” and an offensive against Cig\u00e9o (link<\/a>).<\/strong>
\nWe also demonstrate by our actions our solidarity with our compas in Germany, which are currently undergoing a significant wave of repression following a courageous attack against the nuclear industry on their own territory (link<\/a>). Our thoughts and actions are also in support of the compasses of imprisoned Greece for the Ambel\u00f3kipi affair and in memory of the armed anarchist fighter Kyriakos Xymitiris.<\/p>\n

That night, the streets of Demange-aux-Eaux saw messages of anger and warning appear on their asphalt : “Nuclear trains : valley threatened !”\u00a0 ; while mischievous owls were sabotaging by fire the electrical supply of the atmospheric station of Houdelaincourt near Bure: an installation of ANDRA, already more modern in France, known as, \u00abof excellence\u00bb which integrated last autumn the famous Global Atmospheric Watch, an international scientific observation project intended to make us believe that the nucleocrats care about climate change and that science will save us. White coats like to observe and measure the disasters they produce.<\/p>\n

These acts are therefore part of the fight against the nuclear waste landfill project called \u00abCig\u00e9o\u00bb <\/strong>: a giant underground bin intended to bury under layers of denial the most dangerous rejects in human history. But contrary to what its crooked promoters try to make us believe, Cig\u00e9o is not so much a scientific proposal to “manage” atomic waste as a propaganda company to justify and legitimize the continuation of this particularly deadly industry. After throwing them into the Atlantic Ocean and considering projecting them into the heart of the sun, the nucleocrats are determined to sell us once again the damaged dream of a “green” energy whose production would be controlled from start to finish. But their dream has always been a nightmare and it\u2019s time to wake up.<\/p>\n

The fight against the Cig\u00e9o project represents an important point, without being the only one, in the resistance against the nuclearization of France and the world. Is it even necessary to recall once again the past and present ravages of this madness ? Or to warn again and again about the disasters that the atomic bomb and nuclear power plants will not fail to cause ? But if we choose to fight – or at least struggle – against the regime of the Atom, we are not for all that in favor of pseudo-alternatives put forward by technocrats of the same kind : wind, solar, hydrogen, hydroelectric or other technological calamities. No industrial energy production can be compatible with a dignified life in harmony with nature if mining is the heart of it. We therefore express our solidarity with all those who oppose one or another facet of industrial society.<\/p>\n

Thus, if we choose to fight against nuclear power, this time in the Meuse and at the end of the chain, it is because we think that it embodies the most advanced form, the most exemplary of the disaster that we are experiencing. That it contains in its mode of operation most of the problems of modern society by pushing them to the extreme : extractivism, colonialism, race for power, specialization and regime of experts, centralization, technological dependence, destruction of territories and so on. Despite this, some people will persist in considering us as thugs and call for democracy and citizen engagement. Now, we have once again undertaken to directly attack the nuclear infrastructure to declare that this mode of action is not only necessary to hope one day to get rid of it, but especially that it is possible to do so, and this even in a militarized territory and under increased surveillance. It is not a question of claiming to be able to dismantle here and now industrial society as a whole, but of continuing to bring about a radical critique in action, to perpetuate a culture of resistance and to share offensive practical knowledge at the heart of the night, in the same way that we transmit to each other the knowledge necessary for a life of subsistence, inseparable from a desirable future.<\/p>\n
