G20/Loïc : News from the Elbchaussee trial

Published on La Neige sur Hambourg

Today, the 13/12, in Leipzig, the appeal of the trial concerning the demonstration on the bourgeois street Elbchaussee during the G20 in Hamburg took place.

Our friend Loïc had already spent 1 year and 4 months behind bars in Germany, before being sentenced to 3 years in prison in the first trial. In July 2020, he had appealed against this sentence with his lawyers, as had the prosecutor who had decided to push the repressive madness to its paroxism by asking, for his part, 4 years and 9 months in prison.

Today, the German federal court rejected the appeal of the prosecutor as well as that of Loïc. Our friend finds himself under the application of the sentence ordered in the first trial: 3 years of prison. He should theoretically spend another 1 year and 8 months in a cell, that is to say 20 months.

Two other persons who were minors at the time of the action – also accused in the Elbchaussee trial – are currently facing a higher sentence than in the first instance, as the German federal court has decided to accept the prosecutor’s appeal in their case. The verdict is due in a week.

These sanctions are political, we will continue to denounce and oppose them. More information will come soon.

Solidarity with Loïc!
