Come to live in Bure and around

The places

When coming here, you have some options :

  • The “Maison de Résistance” (House of resistance to the nuclear waste), 2 rue de l’Église, 55290 Bure. It is a place for welcoming people and getting informations about the struggle. There are sleepings to spend the night, electricity, hot water, Internet. You can call the (+33)9.54.10.57.11 (this number is wiretapped by police). If nobody answers the phone, please call back because the messages are not checked.

It is possible to ask in advance if you want to come by sending an email to burezonelibre (at) riseup (dot) net

  • L’Affranchie, 1 rue de la Croix, 55290 Mandres-en-Barrois. It is a collective house with several sleepings. There is no running water and the electricity from the solar panels allows some LEDs and computers to be powered. There is internet in the place. ANDRA attempted a procedure to recover the place, but it lost this procedure in 2021.

  • “La Gare” (Former train station of Luméville) (6 km from Bure, between the cities of Luméville en Ornois and Mandres en Barrois), which is a private place bought by opponents to the Cigéo project quite a few years ago. This place is currently a place of occupation that is threatened with eviction : more information on this page. This place has no running water, the water is in tons of water, and electricity from solar panels is limited (but sufficient to recharge batteries). There is also internet access. More information here on this page.

This place is known for having hosted several events, such as the VMC camp in 2015, the Rayonnantes camp in 2021, the trainstopping exhibition,…

  • L’Augustine, house of agricultural activity, antinuclear and feminist. It is a place for anti-nuclear organization (but not only!) open to groups who request it, a logistical base for peasant activities, and in particular the vegetable collective of Les Semeuses which cultivates 3ha on the edge of the future railway intended to transport nuclear waste, from a place of sociability open to the village, in which one would like to see links forged between different worlds, during a plant fair, of a projection, a glass or a concert. Uun bar asso already opens its doors on Thursday evening. More information on what may have taken place here.
