[Orléans] No congress for the RN (fascist party) on 24 and 25 October!

On 24 and 25 October, the RN (Rassemblement National – a french fascist party) is planning to hold its congress in Orléans, with its campaign launch rally on the 25th. Buses will depart from all over France for a show of strength by France’s leading fascist party.

Every time the FN/RN scores media or political victories, it becomes normalised as a political force and its ideas gain ground, as evidenced by the ‘licence to kill’ law for the police and gendarmerie passed this summer. Above all, this party fuels racist violence, as was the case last June in a nightclub in Rodez, where people were heard shouting : “Marine [Le Pen] in power, Arabs to the slaughterhouse.”

In the face of the dangers of fascism, our response must be resolute and massive.

The demonstrations held in July against the congress of the AFD, a German fascist party, brought together 20,000 demonstrators and should give us confidence : all over the world, we are the majority ! Together, we can deal a heavy defeat to the RN.

Several anti-fascist initiatives are currently being organised in Orléans, notably an anti-fascist village on the 24th and a national demonstration heading towards the rally on the 25th. In early September, there will be a national inter-organisational meeting to finalise, all together, the organisation of this weekend of national anti-fascist mobilisation.

We are also calling on all organisations that wish to do so to organise campaigns in their neighbourhoods, towns and villages to urge people to demonstrate on 25 October in Orléans against the RN rally.

Leafleting, putting up posters, public meetings, public transport, fundraising evenings : let’s be everywhere, and let’s use this opportunity to stop the RN from handing out leaflets at our markets and putting up posters on our walls.
