Solidarity with Maja, an antifascist on hunger strike in prison in Hungary

Since June 5, Maja, a non-binary anti-fascist person, has been on hunger strike to protest against the undignified conditions of detention and political justice in Hungary. Maja was illegally extradited to Hungary and faces up to 24 years in prison as part of a show trial. We send a small sign of solidarity from Lorraine, where we also experience daily political justice against activists and fascist threats against all those who do not correspond to the norm.
“[Solidarity] gives me the strength to continue to fight, with you, not only for better detention conditions in Hungary and elsewhere, but also for the freedom of all political prisoners. Let’s not think about rest today, so that tomorrow we can celebrate queer, supportive and respectful festivals” (letter from Maja, 20.6.2025)
Maja is one of the most affected antifas by the repression after protesting against the annual Nazi parade on ‘Honor Day’ in Budapest in 2023. Throughout Europe, the neofascist regime of Orban uses means of combating terrorism to persecute activists. While Italy and France have prevented extraditions to Hungary, the German authorities have agreed to extradite Maja, knowing that the political justice of Budapest practices a special and particularly repressive treatment of antifas and queer people.
Police cooperation agreements within the EU, such as the European arrest warrant, are increasingly becoming an instrument of power for right-wing parties, while the political map is colored month after month to the detriment of emancipation. In view of the hunger strike and in the face of widespread acceptance of the situation by politicians and the media, we must continue to increase antifascist pressure. Support the persecuted antifas, fight against fascist actions and show your support to all those concerned by the “Budapest Affair”!
